Community Outreach

First Presbyterian Church is a congregation with a caring heart that tries to demonstrate the grace of Christ to those in need.  To that end, we engage in a number of ministries to meet the needs of people who are often marginalized in our society.  Each month we prepare and serve up to 200 free hot lunches at Manna House.   We collect and purchase groceries, paper and hygiene products which we deliver to a group of 24 low income senior adults who live in the neighborhoods around the church, and once each quarter we include a housing project as well. We also coordinate, plan and implement our local CROP Walk, a community wide fundraiser to alleviate hunger in the U.S. and around the world.  We have sent relief teams to the Gulf Coast to help in Katrina relief.  At Christmas we sponsor an angel tree to provide Christmas gifts for families in need.

In addition to these ministries we also participate in the denominational offerings which go to benefit a wide variety of people.
